I am originally
from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico but have been living in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 14 years. I have always been fascinated
with poetry but I didn't start writing it until around 1996 when I was an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota-Twin
Cities. I was inspired by a professor who taught American Indian Philosophies class. He gave me lessons about life and
spirituality and taught me how writing can be used as a way of expression. I usually get inspired by songs, books,
articles, events, nature, and by feelings of sadness or anger. I see poetry as a channel to express my feelings...an
expression of the soul and a way to mend my heart.
